FBS History

Neil Fjellestad was born and raised in San Diego, graduating from Point Loma High School and SDSU (BS in Accounting; Graduate Studies in Finance and Organizational Behavior). His father immigrated to the U.S. after traveling the world alone as a young man and chose San Diego to build a life.

Since its inception the Fjellestad brand has been established and maintained by hundreds of employees operating inside a dozen real estate related businesses. At the top of that list is Chris De Marco, his business partner. Chris was a Chicago transplant to San Diego in the mid-eighties to reposition real estate assets for a local investment firm and joined FBS in 1989 building it from a couple doors managed to thousands.

In 1995 FBS acquired a Prudential office in Rancho Bernardo assuming management of hundreds of properties in the North County region.

In 2009 the third generation entered the front doors with the hire of Chris’ daughter Melissa, although she had been around the office since 3 years old. She quickly raised through the ranks and made a position for herself in Operations and Marketing- quickly giving FBS a marketing facelift and operational overhaul.

In 2012 long time industry leader and close friend of FBS, Lucinda Lilley joined to open the Multi-Family Division of FBS. Since then, she as continued leading the industry as board member for the Southern California Rental Housing Association, Institute of Real Estate Management. Leadership and education is her passion and thus became the industry’s most sought after educator!
