What to know about Santee Property Management. Let’s talk about the area and things to do!
History of Santee
Santee is a suburban city in San Diego County. Although it is a part of the East County region, Santee is located just 18 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The city is bisected by the San Diego River, featuring parks, trails and much more.
The city is named after Milton Santee, the second husband of Jennie Blodgett, whose first husband was George A. Cowles, a pioneer rancher and businessperson in the San Diego County area. Think Cowles Mountain.
The 92071 and 92072-zip codes represent the neighborhoods that are closest to the geographic center for the entire local metro area. Many homes have mountain views. Those who call Santee home, have easy freeway access. A quick trip on the trolley will get you to SDSU, Mission Valley and even downtown.
Events in Santee
This city hosts several events throughout the year. A 10-week series of free concerts is organized each summer by the city’s Community Services Department. You can also enjoy Santee Salutes on the 4th of July, the Santee twilight brews and bites festival and the Holiday lighting celebration in November!
For the sports lover, the Sportsplex USA Santee is a 15-acre sports field complex that opened on June 1, 2010. Located within Town Center Community Park, it features three lighted softball fields, four batting cages, two lighted arena soccer fields, spectator seating, parking and a sports-themed restaurant offering food, beer and wine. For malt beverage connoisseurs, the city is home to a cluster of award-winning micro-breweries.
Santee is a popular spot for mountain bikers, some common routes include “Moby Dick” and “Pride Rock”, as well as “Faith Hill” and “Dogpile”. Santee Lakes Regional Park and Campground offers 190 acres (77 ha) for fishing, camping, bird watching and picnicking. Hey Golfers, Carlton Oaks Golf Course and resort is known for its unique design, bring your A game.
New Development
The 55 acres (22 ha) Town Center Community Park is located along the San Diego River. The center of the park features a 15 acres (6.1 ha) sports field complex, and an aquatics center. The park’s first two phases were completed in the fall of 2010. The $23.5 million facility was funded through a combination of redevelopment bonds, developer impact fees and grants.

Wow! I love this detailed look at one of the best kept secrets in the San Diego region when choosing a place to live, work and play. In addition, the centrality to major employers allows “coming home” to this hidden valley an important part of every resident.
What many do not know is that this valley that includes Santee and Lakeside has been important to me personally. Over one hundred years ago my maternal great grandmother “Maggie” along with her 3 teenage children settled here from Montana. Recently widowed and determined to continue the family success of ranching, developing real estate and rental property operations. She came into this valley and called it home for their future generations. My mother was raised on the Lakeside ranch.
